Our group is interested in all aspects of research relating to the subject of education and pedagogy; from the development of theory to its impact in practice.
We are particularly interested in knowledge exchange between disciplines that might drive innovation and improve the educational experience and outcomes from the perspective of both staff and students. Therefore, our approach is to encourage interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
We aim to affirm the University of Bristol as a centre of excellence in the field of education and pedagogy, with recognition nationally and internationally to the benefit of both students and staff.
Our Approaches and Interests
As educators, we not only have a passion for our individual fields or disciplines, we also are passionate about the way that it is delivered at every stage of the educational process. Education has the potential to be transformative at both an individual and a societal level. However, in order to achieve this, ways of engaging both hearts and minds must be found that that not only deliver content but also develop the skills and personal attributes that allow individuals and communities to thrive in today’s society.
Our group is diverse and current interests include (but are not limited to):
- Learning Theory
- Transition and Progression
- Information and Functional Literacy

- Digital Approaches and Learning Technologies
- Flipped and Blended Learning and Teaching
- Curriculum Development
